In Zell everyone will discover a very special mountain experience – whether that be while hiking, mountain climbing or on one of the many mountain bike routes, paragliding or even just on a relaxing walk. With approx. 2000 inhabitants and 2.4 km² surface area Zell am Ziller is the heart of the Zillertal. The district is the administrative and the educational centre of Zillertal. Zell is even mentioned in connection with the centuries old guest accommodations in 1428, by envoys from Italy on their trip to Salzburg! It is not just hospitality which is traditional here, The oldest private brewery (Zillertal Bier) is also based in Zell. On the 1st weekend in May Austria's largest spring and costume fest takes place, the Gauder Festival.

This festival marks the start of the season of countless festivities and hightlights which shape the summer months until the end of October.
